ABOUT CLUB DJANGO SEXTET..........

In 1932 Paris, a few enthusiasts and entrepreneurs founded the "Hot Club of France" in order to promote the development of innovative jazz, as a musical genre. Through their benevolence a band was formed called "Le Quintette du Hot Club de France". Because of these musicians' subsequent recordings and appearances "Le Quintette du Hot Club of France" became the most
popular instrumentalists on the continent. The key to their success was the collaboration between the prodigious gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and the suave, conservatory trained, violinist Stephane Grappelli. The jazz they played could instantly be recognized as having the"Hot Club" sound.

In 1995 Monsieur Andre Sequinot set out to find like-minded musicians to play "Hot Club" music for sheer enjoyment and pleasure of it. The Tranzac Club, a non profit Australian/New Zealand social club/bar in downtown Toronto offered free rehearsal space.Through the Tranzac's support many musicians of assorted talent and professional status have been introduced to the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Billboard size charts were made up and as many as twenty musicians at a time would follow along taking solos in round robin sequence and filling the room with swinging sounds of Hot Club Jazz. In time a nucleus of strong and dedicated performers decided it would be worth-while to perform publicly and so"The Club Django Sextet" was born.
